Providing a customer experience that brings peace and joy.
The Wilson House Story.
I started my career in Logistics in the Final Mile division, working for a third-party broker and global leader in this space. In that position, I did my best to solve the problems the industry faced by working with and developing delivery companies that would take care of the end customer. I was sitting in my office one day, banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to get quality delivery companies on board who have the integrity to do the right thing, and that’s when it hit me. We were getting what we paid for.
There were too many "others" taking a cut for the delivery companies to be successful. By the time the job got to them, half the pay was going to other parties that weren’t really adding any value. So, while many delivery companies wanted to provide quality service, they weren’t getting paid for their time and energy. This trickled all the way down to the delivery team. Too many guys were spending 20 years in the industry and coming out with nothing but a broken back. The atmosphere for the delivery teams was toxic and that atmosphere transferred into the last part of the transaction – the delivery.
“Behold, I am doing a new thing.” To solve these industry problems, I was going to have to lead from behind. I needed to elevate the weak, the poor, the ones who were being taken advantage of. I thought that if I focused on the delivery teams, they would take care of the rest. If I taught them how to fish for themselves and give them something real to work for, they would have “skin in the game” and take ownership of everything they touch. Their work, their family, their fatherhood, their marriage, and their life.
To put it another way: If I took care of the men in my house, they would take care of yours.
I believe the God of Israel created me with a specific set of skills and a passion for developing men of all ages. I believe that his spirit, the same spirit that resurrected his son Jesus from the grave, is the most powerful force in the universe. I believe that by the power of his spirit we can live the way he designed us to live, where we serve each other, and right our wrongs. Our mission is to foster an environment where men can discover God and grow into his will for their lives.
